BERRY HEAD

Berry Head in Brixham is the southern point of the sea area "Tor Bay" with Thatcher rock its northern point; looking out over this imaginary line between the two land points is "Lyme Bay".

Berry Head is the site of an Iron Age hill fort which was mostly destroyed around 1800 AD when the extensive fortifications to protect the Torbay naval anchorage against threatened invasion by French armies was contructed. It is now looked after by the Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust, and has an informative Visitor Centre.

Berry Head has stunning views where you can walk the ramparts as the soldiers did 200 years ago, it also has a new Guardhouse Cafe.
